Mrs.Toale's First Grade

See our butterfly pictures!

First grade students had fun learning about butterflies and moths in August and September. Students are encouraged to look for monarch caterpillars and bring them to school. I also bring in many myself! They are an excellent way to observe the butterfly life cycle. The children enjoyed releasing the butterflies so they could begin their long journey south for the winter.

Painting in Art class

First grade students used watercolor paints and author/illustrator Eric Carle's techniques to create insects. 

Journal writing

    Our first job in the morning is writing in our "Good Morning" journals.
